1 Bless me father for I have sinned
2 It has been so many years since my last confession
3. These are my sins
4 Listen to the pennance
5 Go do the pennance
6 Then get on your knees and pray to God realizing that steps 1-5 made you feel good but did little for your relationship with God, repent and get back on track with God.
-Bless me father for I have sinned
-How long has it been since your last confession?
-This long
-Tell me your sins
- You tell your sins
- I give you 5 hail Mary’s and 2 hello Dolly’s… NEXT!
The only one you need to be confessing to is Jesus Christ Himself. Only Jesus can forgive sins. No man sitting in a dark room can.
You should make an examination of conscious before you go.

When you get there, “Bless me, Father, for I have sinned. It has been X years since my last confession”.
Say Act of Contrition (this may be said before…depends on # of people there).
Confess your sins.
Listen to the advice of the Priest.
Do your penance.
Go, and sin no more.
And yes, Confession is VERY scriptural. http://www.scripturecatholic.com/confession.html
Taking confession is the job of the priest. You would be giving confession. Just go in and tell him you haven’t been in a while and yu need a refresher.
1. say “bless me father, it’s been X amount of time since i’ve last been to confession.”
2. say the act of contrition (here’s one version):
“oh my god i am sorry for my sins with all my heart
in choosing to do wrong and failing to do good
i have sinned against you
whom i should love above all things
i firmly intend with your help
to do penance, sin no more, and avoid being led into sin.
jesus christ suffered and died for us, in his name, oh god, have mercy.”
3. tell the priest your sins and notify him when you are finished
4. he will give you a penance (usually a rosary or something). do your penance immediately.
DON’T FORGET TO WHISPER IN THE CONFESSIONAL!! otherwise EVERYONE will be able to hear you.
I should know this since I’ve gone to a catholic school for the last 12 years, but Im clueless. Im pretty sure the priest would help you along as you go though
The most important thing is to remember to take your wallet.
On the way out the door, marvel at the splendor of the structure…expensive architecture, art, and such.
When you reach the street observe the poverty and misery, and ponder the question, “Where might there be the $$$ for a charitable group to assist?”
Certainly, the Church isn’t allowing those among them to starve while the pope lives in luxury. Right?
Bless me father for I have sinned. It’s been like 2 weeks since my last confession and these are my sins.Say your sins. The priest might talk to you then he will give you your penances. Now you say the act of contrition then leave.
1) Do an Examination of Conscience. Meditate on the Ten Commandments, and contemplate on the various ways in which you’ve failed to follow them. Go through each of the ten.
This isn’t so much an exercise for the mind, simply trying to recall memories.
Instead, think of what it means to follow each of the Ten Commandments, and you’ll see the ways in which you’ve failed.
I’m not trying to a “downer”, you understand? This is supposed to be a humbling exercise, but humbling in a good way.
2) Go to your parish church and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Catholic parishes offer Confession from 3-4pm on Saturday afternoons, or during the week by appointment.
Go into the Church and kneel in silent prayer, for as long or as short a time as you need before entering the confessional.
3) Go into the Confessional, or sit next/near the priest.
4) If you go into the Confessional, kneel down and wait for the slide to open. There will be a screen in front of you. The slide will open, allowing you and priest to speak, but without each of you being able to see the other; thereby allowing some semblance of anonymity.
5) Say, “Bless me Father, for I have sinned. It’s been since my last confession, and these are my sins.
6) List your sins. Don’t panic if you can’t remember them all. Just do the best you can.
7) The priest will offer some council, especially if there appears to be particular sins that you commit “regularly”. Listen to whatever spiritual advice the priest has. And he will also remind you of God’s Love and Mercy, and willingness to forgive the sins you’ve confessed.
When the priest is done speaking, say the Act of Contrition. There’s no “one” Act of Contrition. If you were to google ‘Act of Contrition’, you’ll find many fine examples. It’s just a short prayer in which you express your sorrow for sinning and asking for God’s Grace to help you from sinning again.
Don’t bother trying to memorize any. Chances are, there will be an Act of Contrition up on the wall inside the confession. You can just read from it. Or, if you find one you like, print it out and bring it with you.
9) The priest will give you a penence; something to do, or a list of prayers to say before leaving the parish church. MAKE SURE you DO YOUR PENENCE, otherwise your confession isn’t valid.
That’s it. It sounds like alot but, really, there’s nothing to it.
10) If, on your way home, you suddenly realize you forgot to confess a particular sin, don’t worry about it. If it was your intention to confess it, had you remembered, then it’s forgiven.
10)
Ask the priest for help. remember to tell him it’s been a while
All glories to Jesus Christ
(priest answers Amen)
I haven’t gone in a few years and I forgot how to take confession.
As a joke?
